KCLOG recently paid a visit to Minus Space and Tompkins Projects, a couple of great spaces that have raised the standard in terms of what defines an artist-run program.
Minus Space was founded in 2003 by artists Rosanna Martinez and Matthew Deleget in the Carroll Gardens/Gowanus section of Brooklyn. They are the only venue in the United States that is equal parts studio, exhibition space, and information resource that is dedicated to the practice of reductive art. A strong emphasis is placed on building communities on a local and international level, culminating with last year's exhibition at P.S.1 to mark the 5th anniversary of Minus Space.
On view through Dec. 5: Douglas Melini: It Flows Over Us Without Meaning
